Expectation vs. Reality (Or Why I Never Keep My New Year’s Resolutions)

If you’re like me, you wake up every morning with the intention to eat right, drink plenty of water, and check several tasks off your to-do list.

The reality?  I bolted out the door in a rush, hit the ground running at work, putting out fires and taking care of things that were NEVER on my task list.  I then realize that it’s already 2pm, I’m starving and there’s more work to do than I can finish in the remaining few hours of the day!

Couldn’t a healthy meal just magically appear in front of me so I can keep my goals and not disrupt my stride at work?

No such luck.

On the way home, I drive past every kind of fast food joint and my willpower is waning.  I walk in the door at 6pm and think… “Ok, what’s for dinner?”

Let’s see… what’s in the fridge? Oops, it’s been a few days since I’ve been to the grocery store. There isn’t really anything I can make a real meal out of.  Sigh…takeout it is.

The harsh clash of Expectations vs. Reality is a common struggle for all of us. Every year I think I’m going to get it together, stay on top of menu planning, grocery shopping, meal prepping and keeping it healthy, but daily life always seems to get in the way.

In January of 2019, I made it my resolution to focus on better meal planning for my own family. I was determined!  I am a PROFESSIONAL CATERER! I’ve got this!

It started out great for about the first week and then it simply became too difficult to manage as we hit a busy period and the kids’ schedules got in the way. Turns out?  It was harder than I expected. It took up a lot more time than I’d anticipated, and the process wasn’t very efficient.

I knew I wasn’t alone in this, and I started to think about all of the others in my community who could really use a little extra help with meals, a break from juggling too many things at once, and maybe even a few extra hours a week to spend with their families, getting a few more things marked off their task lists, or just spending time doing something they love.

It quickly became my passion to help others simplify their lives, providing healthy and wholesome prepared reheat & eat meals. Simple to order and meals can be delivered right to their door step or picked up from our facility.

My team and I have dedicated ourselves to creating Simple Bites Meals. We offer a choice of classic or lean (low carb) meals, save time, and finally meet your New Year’s Resolutions.  😉
